Taper molds come pre-wicked so customers can readily see our wicking method. Most of the working taper molds come with small rectangular trays filled with green florist clay that is warmed first, then pressed against the tips of the molds and set to cool. The clay prevents wax from leaking out once the mold is poured, it's sticky when warm, solid when cool.
Our taper molds have been used for many years! Some have been soldered and patched with silicone here and there to prevent leaks.
